We understand that the college admissions process can feel overwhelming for high school students and their families. Since our founding in 1999, we have established a leading college counseling organization with a dedicated team of highly trained counselors who provide guidance, perspective, and encouragement throughout the college journey.
We recognize that academic performance and standardized testing can cause significant anxiety for students and their families. We've witnessed the intense focus on test scores and the pressures that come with tutoring and test preparation. We believe in a better approach—one that empowers gifted instructors to unlock students' potential while providing honest, valuable guidance to families.
Now, we are building an academic service that reflects this ethos and are looking for passionate instructors to join our team.
Position Overview
As a part-time tutor, you will have the opportunity to work with high school students in subjects such as ACT, SAT, ISEE/SSAT, Subject Tests, AP exams, IB subjects, and academic skills. Additionally, we are seeking instructors for GRE and GMAT prep for graduate students.
You will conduct private tutoring sessions at our offices and, in some cases, online through platforms like Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom. We require a commitment of at least ten hours per week, with hours offered depending on your expertise and demand.
You'll be matched with a local office with an existing base of students, and while we hope your skills will bring additional referrals, you won't need to actively recruit students initially.
We value quality over quantity. This role is about the heart and dedication you bring to your work, not just the number of hours. You will have the support of a dedicated manager committed to your success and will be recognized as a valued team member. You'll also be invited to our company holiday party and considered for our annual awards. Many of our most impactful team members started as part-time instructors and have found fulfillment in their work with us.
Expect to work hard, often during evenings and weekends when students are available. You'll also engage with parents, who may present customer service challenges. However, you will receive training and support from your office, alongside appreciative clients, and the satisfaction of knowing you're making a significant impact in students' lives.
Who We're Looking For
Here are some basic qualifications:
A four-year college degree.
The ability to score in the required percentile for your chosen subjects:
ACT/SAT, Subject Tests, or AP exams: 99th percentile or above in selected subjects
Academic subjects: 95th percentile on the associated Subject Test(s)
GMAT and GRE tutors: 90th percentile

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly rate starts at $50. We are eager for our tutors to begin as soon as possible, but we can accommodate flexible starting dates for the right candidates. After meeting eligibility requirements, part-time tutors may qualify for health benefits, including medical, vision, and dental coverage, as well as 401(k) matching.
