Description: Senior Research Specialist, Research Navigation - UIC Center for Clinical and Translational Science
The Senior Research Specialist, Research Navigation, collaborates with PIs and Program leadership in the development, conduct and evaluation of clinical and translational research projects and grants. The position supports the Center's research development and advancement efforts by consulting with clinical and translational research teams in the preparation of grant proposals, conduct of research studies and evaluation of research outcomes. The Senior Research Specialist advises research teams at various stages of the research process connecting them with relevant expertise, scientific support services and research resources to advance their projects and foster high-quality, reproducible research.
Collaborate with Program leadership to develop objectives, implement protocols and evaluate outcomes for CCTS translational research scientific support services.
Coordinate with clinical and translational science research teams and CCTS research consultants to assess research project needs, recommend support services, monitor projects progress and track outcomes.
Serve as primary liaison with investigators and research teams seeking CCTS research services.Assist investigator with navigating the research process at UIC, CCTS research service portfolio, and request system.
Identify and implement changes to policies, practices and procedures to support and optimize impact of consultative services across all stages of the research process from study design to dissemination of results.
Evaluate quality and utility of research resources and services provided by CCTS Research Ally.Collect and analyze data to assess utilization and quality of research resources provided by CCTS Research Ally.Collects feedback and monitors evaluation and impact metrics.
Develops and conducts training in effective consultation processes for CCTS research navigators and peer scientists.Review literature from CTSA Consortium on best practices for translational research support services, developing effective collaboration strategies and team science.
Contribute material, prepare results and assist in the writing of research findings for publications, papers, presentations, grants, and other documents for publication. Assist principal investigator in grant and manuscript submission.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required. Master's degree in social science preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years related research experience.
- Possesses and applies advanced knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the development and implementation of multi-site and/or multi-institutional projects preferred.
