Job Description
You will work at one of our busy tutoring centers on campus and at the Kingston Center, providing assistance both in-person and via remote video conferencing. Your mission will be to guide and support students in a variety of math skills and topics. We are particularly seeking tutors with experience in assisting developmental math students in areas such as arithmetic, basic algebra, and quantitative reasoning, as well as those who can provide support in statistics and calculus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate group or one-on-one tutoring sessions for students who seek assistance in the tutoring center or have been referred by their instructors.
Skillfully manage the needs of multiple students simultaneously.
Familiarize yourself with the topics, teaching methods, and requirements of the faculty in your area of expertise.
Utilize Zoom video conferencing for remote tutoring sessions.
Collaborate directly with faculty to communicate the progress of their students.
Attend professional development workshops to enhance your tutoring skills.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education.
Strong communication skills, particularly in one-on-one settings.
Experience in teaching and/or tutoring math.
A commitment to the goals and objectives of community colleges, providing quality programs and services to culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students, including those with disabilities.
Personal qualities that enable you to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment.
Awareness of and commitment to supporting the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
Salary: $22.86 per hour
