PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I – NORTHERN BUTTES DISTRICT /LAKE OROVILLE MAINTENANCE OFFICE

Post & Bid : This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The reporting location for this position is Lake Oroville Maintenance Office. This position will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor. The incumbent may be assigned to work at other park units within the District. T his position is responsible for the construction, maintenance and housekeeping functions of the park trails, facilities, roads, systems and structures. Lake Oroville SRA is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and has the following recreational facilities 55 miles of multiuse trails, 14 launch ramps, 3 standard campgrounds, 5 boat in campgrounds, 10 floating campsites, 6 floating restrooms, 1 equestrian campground, 12 group camps, 6 day use areas, and 3 trail campsites. The Park Maintenance Worker I will lead and direct outside agencies, volunteers, inmates, and other permanent or seasonal staff in the repair and maintenance of the facilities. The incumbent should possess strong organizational and leadership skills. The incumbent may be assigned to work at other park units within the district.

The incumbent’s work schedule will be Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as not telework eligible .

Working Conditions

The incumbent performs work that involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. The work environment will involve some exposure to hazards or physical risk, which require following basic safety precautions. Outdoor work is common. Typical work activities involve frequent and prolonged periods of standing and walking. Considerable physical activity is common. The position requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 60 pounds. Physical work is a primary part of the job. The incumbent will use their hands and power tools applicable to the position and as necessary to complete various tasks. May entail muscular strain, including walking, standing, stooping, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, twisting, lifting, carrying and reaching on uneven and slippery surfaces. Requires the use of safety equipment such as: hard hats, safety glass, safety boots, gloves, ear protection and respirators.
