This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This OPS position will conduct community outreach and education with a focus of integrating WIC program services with other health services to include but not be limited to: Head Start, Medicaid, early childhood intervention programs food stamps, temporary cash assistance, hospitals, homeless shelters, and private physicians serving the WIC population.
  • This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, and regulations, as well as Department of Health in Broward County Policies, Protocols, and Procedures. This position has been delegated custodial authority for their Program/Unit’s information set(s) and/or secured areas(s).
  • Initiate and expand coordination of health, social, and economic service organizations to ensure referrals of potentially WIC eligible individuals to the WIC program. Coordinating efforts include disseminating program information and providing nutrition and breastfeeding education and support during outreach activities. Promotes and supports nutrition and breastfeeding initiatives. Implements o utreach activities as per guidelines in DHM 150-24.
  • Document all outreach activities and submit weekly and monthly reports.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
  2. Clerical experience.
  3. Experience providing customer services over the telephone or in person.
  4. Valid driver’s license free of major infractions and access to an automobile to be utilized for work purposes and receive reimbursement for mileage.
  5. Willing to work evenings and weekends as determined by program needs.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Experience conducting Community Outreach.
  2. Experience working with Federal/State/Private Eligibility Programs.
  3. Experience working with social service programs.
