Location: Framingham, MA

Job Overview: The school is seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to students with diverse needs. This role involves evaluating students, developing individualized therapy plans, and collaborating with educators and parents to support students in achieving their educational and developmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Conduct thorough evaluations of students’ motor skills, sensory processing, and overall functional abilities.
    • Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observations to identify students' strengths and areas of need.
    • Develop individualized occupational therapy plans based on assessment results and student goals.
  2. Therapeutic Intervention:

    • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students, both individually and in small groups.
    • Implement evidence-based interventions to improve students’ fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care abilities, and participation in school activities.
    • Adapt activities and materials to accommodate students’ unique needs and promote their independence.
  3. Collaboration and Consultation:

    • Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other related service providers to integrate occupational therapy goals into the classroom environment.
    • Provide training and resources to educators and parents to support the implementation of therapy strategies at school and home.
    • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, contributing to the development of student goals and progress monitoring.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student evaluations, therapy sessions, and progress.
    • Prepare written reports and documentation for IEP meetings, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Monitor and document students' progress toward their therapy goals and adjust plans as needed.
  5. Student Advocacy:

    • Advocate for the needs of students with occupational therapy needs, ensuring they receive appropriate services and accommodations.
    • Collaborate with the school team to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
    • Empower students to develop self-advocacy skills and take an active role in their own therapy.
  6. Professional Development:

    • Stay current with best practices and research in occupational therapy through ongoing professional development.
    • Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions relevant to the field of occupational therapy.
    • Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues to enhance the overall effectiveness of the school’s therapy programs.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Valid Massachusetts licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy, including sensory integration and fine motor development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
