Medical Assistant

Position Summary

Under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse, performs a full range of duties as a Medical Assistant. They do obtain basic treatment information, check vitals, Review of systems, screening tests, communicate with providers, work closely with HCA team, with UHW providers within Olin and in community as needed. Communication with local pharmacies. Provide customer service both in person and over the phone at all locations as needed. 

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting performing routine health assessment tests; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience in the use word processing and database software, a specified medical course such as Nurse Health Aid and Phlebotomy, or Medical Billing and Medical Terminology experience. May require knowledge of electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems. May require certification as a medical assistant.

Desired Qualifications

Completion of a medical assistant certificate; extensive knowledge of computer software including Microsoft products, Outlook email, Titanium and Athena electronic health records; understanding of HIPAA/ patient confidentiality; critical decision making skills while under stress; excellent interpersonal skills to schedule appointments and interact with psychiatrist, psychologist, counselors and social workers.
