Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

The California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), Information Technology Services Branch (ITSB) is seeking an IT Specialist II (ITS II) who is knowledgeable and experienced in Customer Service and Desktop Support, particularly specializing in Apple technologies and the management of end point devices.

The ITS II duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Researching new technology for implementation into CalPERS’s existing environment.
  • Leading section projects and work efforts.
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on cross-functional teams.
  • Providing third level support in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues. 
  • Acting as a backup to the other ITS II within desktop support.

Statement of Qualifications

  1. Describe your experience with providing technical support for Apple/Macintosh environments, including troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware and software issues. What strategies did you employ to ensure the best customer experience?
  2. Describe your experience managing and troubleshooting systems that intersect multiple IT domains, such as Active Directory, network infrastructure, or server configurations. Provide a specific example to illustrate your experience.
  3. Describe a project or initiative where you had to evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance IT services. What factors did you consider in making your recommendation, and what was the result?
