Homemaker Companion. Preferred Care at Home, a nationwide home care company, is seeking to grow our team of qualified caregivers. The openings include positions for live-in and overnight assignments, day shifts, evening shifts, night shifts, part-time, and full-time opportunities.
Position Description: A
Homemaker/Companion is a non‑licensed member of the home care team who assists the client with the tasks of daily living. The Administrator or Care Coordinator of Preferred Care at Home supervises Homemaker/Companion services according to the client’s request for services.
Qualifications: - A Homemaker/Companion must have a minimum of one year of work experience which is verifiable through references and must complete the agency’s caregiver process (you will learn more about this when we meet).
- Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
- Must exhibit mature, responsible behavior, and understand the need for patient confidentiality.
- Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English.
- Must be able to follow directions and accurately report to the RN Supervisor any change in the client’s condition.
- Must have available reliable transportation to and from assignments.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Planning and preparing meals according to the specific dietary requirements of the client.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and healthy environment through light housekeeping including changing bed linens, dusting and vacuuming, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, and laundry.
- Providing companionship and stimulation for the client including reading, walks, etc.; and accompanying the client to doctors or other appointments.
- Grocery shopping or other errands when needed.
- Performing other housekeeping tasks as indicated in the care plan.
- Participating in in‑service education programs.
- Feels rewarded for improving people's quality of life.
