Position: Firefighter Paramedic

Application Process:
Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue is creating an eligibility list for future openings for entry-level Firefighter Paramedic. This list will be valid for up to 24 months, with a planned academy in February 2025.
Application Requirements:
Candidates must have:
Completed and passed the FireTEAM test administered by National Testing Network (NTN) within twelve (12) months before the application close date of September 22, 2024.
A passing Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) taken between March 23, 2023, and September 22, 2024. CPAT certification must be from an organization authorized and licensed by the IAFF and IAFC.
CPAT Fee Waiver:
Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue understands that the cost of the CPAT can be a burden for some candidates. A limited number of fee waivers are available for those who qualify. Candidates can request a waiver through the process outlined by National Testing Network.
Application Submission:
Candidates must complete the online Firefighter Paramedic application with Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue to be considered. The deadline to submit applications is September 22, 2024, by 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
Salary Information:
Starting Salary: $6,163.24 per month (as of July 1, 2024)
Paramedic Premium: 12% hourly premium (post-academy)

Agency Overview:
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue provides fire protection and emergency medical services to approximately 551,423 residents across a 390-square-mile service area, covering the cities of Beaverton, Durham, King City, Newberg, North Plains, Rivergrove, Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin, West Linn, and Wilsonville, as well as parts of Clackamas, Multnomah, Washington, and Yamhill counties. Position Requirements:
Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Post-high school education or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred but not required.
Experience: No prior experience required.
Certifications: Must have a Paramedic license or National Registry certification as a paramedic at the time of application. A State of Oregon Paramedic license must be obtained by the date of employment.
Criminal Background: All non-expunged convictions must be disclosed and will be reviewed based on severity, date, and other relevant circumstances. Candidates must not have any convictions that would prevent certification by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and the Oregon Health Authority.
Driving Requirements: Must possess a current, valid driver's license recognized by the state of Oregon and maintain a driving record insurable by the District's insurer.
Health and Fitness: Must meet National Fire Protection (NFPA) standards for health and fitness. Employment offers are contingent upon passing a fit-for-duty physical, drug screen, and psychological evaluation.
