About the Role:
We are seeking a strategic and mission-driven Chief Financial Officer to lead the financial operations of our dynamic organization. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for developing financial strategies, managing budgeting and forecasting, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support our business decisions. You will also oversee our business and property departments, leading a dedicated team of professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop the agency's overall strategy for financial sustainability, utilizing scenario planning and forecasting to guide current and future budgets.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and other leadership to address operational and strategic issues, offering recommendations based on financial analysis, cost identification, and revenue/expense evaluations.
Oversee budget preparation, incorporating long-range economic trends and their potential impact on growth and service changes.
Maintain fiscal policies and procedures, ensuring full documentation and compliance, with Board-approved policies.
Manage day-to-day financial operations, including income, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
Review and recommend agency contracts and grants.
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for all financial transactions.
Lead and coordinate all audit activities, staying current on nonprofit audit best practices and fiscal management of funds.
Develop and implement annual plans for the maintenance and repair of owned and leased properties.
Provide leadership, direction, and management for accounting, payroll, property management, and maintenance teams, including hiring, performance management, and coaching.
Oversee insurance management, including recommendations for property, liability, and other coverage.

Qualifications We're Looking For:
Experience in disaster recovery planning, auditing, risk analysis, and vendor negotiation.
Proven ability to develop and implement multi-cost center budgets and complete financial reporting in compliance with applicable standards.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial practices, policies, and procedures.
Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate future trends and build organizational frameworks.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret a strategic vision and create supporting budgets.
Ability to lead and provide oversight for multiple functional departments and programs.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to forge professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel skills.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; master's degree or MBA preferred.
Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounting functions, budget development, financial reporting, and analysis.
Supervisory experience with a track record of developing and leading teams.
CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Experience in a nonprofit setting and cost-reporting experience is preferred.
Valid driver's license and ability to pass extensive background checks.
