Responsibilities

The manager provides day to day management for all clinical areas within the Division of Audiology. The manager plans, directs, and coordinates audiologic activities to ensure the provision of quality patient care on a daily basis. The manager works cooperatively with the Division Chair of Audiology and receives direction from the Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology. The manager also coordinates with the Audiology Consultants for specialty specific strategic planning. The managers role includes ongoing collaboration and communication with audiology staff and other members of the Department. The Manager is responsible for promoting ongoing development of the audiology staff and maintaining a professional environment in which staff can grow and develop. The manager oversees compliance with JCAHO standards and licensing requirements. The Manager also serves in a leadership role for the Audiology Externship Program through the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. The Manager is also responsible for providing direct patient care approximately 60% of the time to the patients of the Division of Audiology. As an audiologist, the manager is responsible for administering diagnostic tests and rehabilitative services to patients of all ages. Diagnostic testing may include audiological assessments, vestibular assessments, cochlear implant assessments, immittance, otoacoustic emissions, and evoked potentials. Rehabilitative services may include cochlear implant programming, hearing instrument recommendations, selection and fittings, and treatment for Benign Paroxysmal Positioning Vertigo. 

Qualifications

A minimum of three years paid experience in a clinical audiology practice. Three years of experience in a lead or supervisory role within the previous 7 years. Experience managing an Audiology department, including audiological retail services preferred. Education: Master's Degree in Audiology required. Professional doctorate in audiology (Au.D.) preferred.

State of Minnesota Audiology License and Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (or must obtain certification within 18 months).
