Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin (UW) System is transforming the administrative infrastructure within the University system. The overall transformation is a people, process, policy, and technology initiative which will include business process standardization, optimization, and redesign in the areas of finance, human resources, and research administration, and will include implementation of Workday to support the changes. The overall objective of the Administrative Transformation Program (ATP) is to right-size the administrative complexity to advance the missions of education, research, and outreach.

Under guidance from the Security Design Lead, the ATP Workday Security Administrator will be responsible for managing the security domains, groups, roles, and policies within the Workday system. Key responsibilities include overseeing system activity, conducting audits to ensure security alignment, and collaborating with HR and Finance teams to implement security requirements for the organization.

Key responsibilities in this role will include:

Security Administration
- Implementing security to include user profiles, roles, permissions, object security, and query security for all areas of Workday.
- Reviewing current internal security controls and proposing changes as needed to enhance system security.
- Monitoring system security and access controls, configuring and deploying security measures as necessary.
- Maintaining a security matrix and ensuring compliance with data privacy standards and company policies.
- Strong understanding of user profiles, roles, permissions, and security configurations.
- Knowledge of data privacy standards and compliance requirements.
- Experience with security systems management and data protection.

Product Support
- Assisting users with security-related issues, troubleshooting access problems, and providing guidance on security best practices.
- Supporting Workday release security testing and reviewing new security functionalities for implementation.
- Providing recommendations and options for workstreams to address their security requirements.
- Monitoring and responding to Workday security defects and change requests.
- Proficiency in Workday HCM and security modules with ability to troubleshoot and resolve access and security issues.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.

IT Governance / Risk framework
- Establishing and maintaining a governance structure that aligns IT strategy with business objectives.
- Informing the development and implementation of policies, procedures, controls, and metrics to manage IT risks effectively.
- Implementing controls and safeguards to mitigate identified risks and regularly monitoring their effectiveness.
- Investing in continuous improvement of the IT governance framework to adapt to the evolving technological landscape and emerging threats.
- Release and Deployment - Ensure that solution design follows the established IT governance framework for deployment with required documentation.

Responsibilities:

Monitors, provides access, and analyzes threats to cyber security data and systems to ensure the safety and protection of information system assets under moderate supervision. Facilitates cybersecurity training.
  • 10% Monitors daily system operations using intrusion detection and prevention systems and assesses findings
  • 20% Reports application security concerns and escalates security incidents to senior staff
  • 35% Receives, processes, and implements security change requests including privilege access
  • 5% Conducts vulnerability-scanning analysis, tests security controls, documents the results of risk assessments, and suggests procedures to prevent future incidents
  • 5% Develops and modifies cybersecurity tools
  • 5% Facilitates security awareness training
  • 10% System Auditing
  • 10% Reviews and analyze security changes made to the system

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
1. ERP experience includes security administration and change control best practices.
2. Ability to perform complex data analysis
3. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
4. Experience with designing and configuring security for large complex applications
5. Strong communication skills -- both written and oral -- including the ability to communicate sensitive information effectively

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with Workday or similar ERP systems in a security-focused role
2. Experience working with a Workday or cloud ERP implementation
3. Experience working in a higher education setting
4. Knowledge of the UW System and UW-Madison business support environment
5. Experience interpreting and applying Information Security Standards such as NIST, ISO, etc

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 22 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Negotiable
ANNUAL (12 months)
Well qualified applicants can expect to earn between $100,000 - $120,000, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.
